On July 17th, the naming and launching ceremony for theDDG HAGURO was held at Yokohama Shipyard IsogoWorks, Japan Marine United Corp.

By equipping the SM-3 Block IIA developed jointly withthe U.S., DDG HAGURO will possess even higher airdefense capabilities and play a central role in air defensecompared to conventional Aegis destroyers. For example, itwill have ballistic missile defense (BMD) capabilities withextended coverage of defense and cooperative engagementcapabilities (CEC) that enable reinforcement of collaborationwith other vessels including Aegis destroyers.
