Establishment Ceremonies of Amami and Miyako Security Forces

Establishment ceremonies for Amami Security Force and Miyako Security Force were held on March 31st and April 7th respectively.

Placement of security forces consisting of infantries at Camp Amami and Camp Miyakojima fill partial blank in the southeast area and increase capabilities to take initial response, deploy units rapidly and make responses in the event of various situations including disasters.

Pacific Partnership 2019

Pacific Partnership 2019 began on March 3rd.
The MOD/JSDF participates in activities in the following countries: Marshal Island (March 3rd to 29th), East Timor (April 27th to May 5th) and Vietnam (April 29th and May 19th).

Pacific Partnership, which started in 2006, is an initiative organized by the U.S. Forces. Naval vessels mainly from the U.S. Navy visit the Indo-Pacific region to provide medical assistance, to conduct facility repair activities, and to engage in cultural exchanges. Pacific Partnership also strengthens collaboration with the participating countries and facilitates international disaster relief activities through cooperation with the government, military, international organizations, and NGOs in each of those countries.

In Marshal Island, the MOD/JSDF conducted medical activities, gave music performances and engaged in cultural exchanges.

The delivery and commission ceremony for SS Shoryu took place on March 18th at Kobe Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.
