Defense Minister Kono's Visit to Djibouti and Oman.

Minister of Defense Kono visited Djibouti and Oman from December 28th to 29th, 2019.

In Djibouti, Minister Kono visited the facility of the Deployment Air Force for Counter-Piracy Enforcement (DAPE) and JS Harusame of the Deployment Surface Force for Counter-Piracy Enforcement (DSPE), where he inspected the units and encouraged the dispatched JSDF personnel.

In addition, Minister Kono held meetings with Defence Minister Hassan and Prime minister Abdoulkader of Djibouti. In the meetings, Minister Kono expressed his appreciation for their support to the JSDF facility in Djibouti and exchanged views on defense cooperation/exchange between the two countries and regional situation.

Subsequently, Minister Kono visited Oman for the first time as Japanese Defense Minister. During the visit, Minister Kono held meetings with Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs Badr and other government officials of Oman and exchanged views on defense cooperation/exchange with Oman and regional situation.
