T-5 Primary Trainer Aircraft

In this edition, we will take a closer look atT-5, JMSDF’s primary trainer aircraft.

The T-5 has been deployed at Air TrainingSquadron 201 in Yamaguchi Prefecture’sOzuki and is used in primary training for allpilots and tactical coordinators, regardless ofwhether they will pilot fixed-wing aircraft orhelicopters. Because the JMSDF mainly deploys large fixed-wing reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters, the cabin of the T-5is a parallel multi-seat cabin with seating fortwo personnel in addition to the pilot andco-pilot. In September 2019, T-5 made itsdemonstration flight, performed by theWhite Arrows, the JMSDF’s official aerobaticflight team of instructor pilots.
