On October 18 2023, Vice-Minister of Defense for International Affairs Serizawa participated in the Seoul Defense Dialogue. The summary is as follows.
1. The Seoul Defense Dialogue Plenary Session
Vice-Minister Serizawa participated in Plenary Session 1 “The Escalated North Korean Nuclear Threat and International Community Responses” as a panelist. He referred to the recognition of the current situation on North Korean nuclear threat and the response required from the international community, and had a range of discussions with other panelists.
2. Bilateral meetings etc. with participating countries

(2) Courtesy Call on H. E. Mr. Tikoduadua, Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration of Fiji
Vice-Minister of Defense Serizawa paid a courtesy call on H. E. Mr. Tikoduadua, Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration of FIJI, who is in charge of defense in Fiji. They exchanged views on defense cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, including port calls to Fiji and capacity building. They agreed to continue to maintain close communication between the defense authorities.
(3) Meeting with Major General Alawi, Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence
Vice Minister of Defense Serizawa held a meeting with Major General Ibrahim Nasser Mohammed Al Alawi, Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence. During the meeting, both exchanged views on bilateral defense cooperation/exchanges including defense equipment and technology and cooperation among air services. They also concurred on the importance of defense authorities to communicate more closely.
(4) Courtesy Call on H.E. Saikhanbayar, Minister of Defence of Mongolia
Vice-Minister of Defense Serizawa paid a courtesy call on H.E. Saikhanbayar, Minister of Defence of MONGOLIA, for approx. 20 minutes. They exchanged their views regarding further promoting Japan-Mongolia defense cooperation and exchanges.
