On February 16 to 18, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Miyake visited Germany to attend the 60th Munich Security Conference, and held meetings as well as courtesy calls with several delegates. The summary is as follows.
Munich Security Conference Summary
On February 17 to 18, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Miyake made a courtesy call to Finnish Minister of Defence Häkkänen, Estonian Minister of Defence Pevkur,
Lithuanian Vice Minister of National Defence Tučkutė, NATO Deputy Secretary General Geoană, and Swedish Minister for Defence Jonson, and discussed defense cooperation and exchanges with them. Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Miyake also attended a luncheon hosted by German Federal Minister of Defence Pistorius, and held brief discussion with several Defense Ministers and officials.

On 17 Feb, PVM Miyake made a courtesy call to Mr. Antti Häkkänen, Minister of Defence of Finland. He congratulated Finland’s membership to NATO, and welcomed the progress of defense equipment/technology cooperation. They also discussed defense cooperation and regional affairs.

On 17 Feb, PVM Miyake made a courtesy call to Mr. Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Defence of Estonia. They welcomed the advance in cyber defense cooperation, and discussed Japan-Estonia defense cooperation and exchanges including those in IT Coalition, as well as regional affairs.

On 17 Feb, PVM Miyake made a courtesy call to Ms. Greta Tučkutė, Vice Minister of National Defence of Lithuania. They welcomed the signing of MOA for Defense Cooperation and Exchanges, and discussed cooperation including those in Demining Coalition as well as regional affairs.

On 17 February, PVM Miyake made a courtesy call to Dr. Mircea Geoană, Deputy Secretary General of @NATO. PVM discussed Japan-NATO defense cooperation based on the Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITPP), and expressed hopes for further cooperation with NATO.

On 18 Feb, PVM Miyake made a courtesy call to Dr. Pål Jonson, Minister for Defence of Sweden. They welcomed signing of the Defense Equipment/Technology Transfer Agreement, the first for Japan and a Nordic nation, and discussed bilateral cooperation as well as regional affairs.
