JMOD/JGSDF began this program in 2014 to contribute to the Mongolian Army's road construction training, which is required for their deployment to UN peacekeeping operations.
For three years since then, the Mongolian Army's capability has increased in surveying and construction management which enabled them to construct gravel and asphalt roads by themselves.
From this year, JMOD has begun providing basic training in concreting skills required to build road drainage as a first step to support the Mongolian Army build their capacity in this field. Until now the Mongolian Army has had limited knowledge and experience in road drainage construction as the climate in Mongolia does not produce high rainfalls.
The Mongolian Army personnel actively participated in both the desk and practical training activities with great enthusiasm.
Thanks to the exceptional leadership of previous trainees and teamwork of all participants at the construction training site, construction efforts progressed smoothly, and technical skills as well as mutual understanding were further deepened.
While this was only a two-week course, the Mongolian Army participants were able to gain a foundational understanding of how to construct road drainage infrastructure. JMOD was also able to confirm that this program is steadily taking root and its successes are progressively building up.
