 The JMOD held the HA/DR Training Program as part of its capacity building program to the Lao People’s Army. The JMOD program aims to develop the Lao People’s Army disaster response capacity so that they can protect the lives and assets of the Lao people. Lao People’s Army Commanders worked to learn the training method and obtain the training skills and techniques, such as how to plan, undertake, and evaluate practical training, provided by JGSDF officers and rescue expert personnel. Also, SAR unit and Medic unit improved their capacity and teamwork of disaster response through the program.

 On the occasion of the closing ceremony, the Deputy Director of General Political Department of the Ministry of National Defense conferred the “Medal of People’s Army” to 6 of Japan delegation members, who participated in this year’s program for the first time, in recognition of their contributions to building and advancing friendship between Japan and Lao PDR.
