The JMOD held the HA/DR Training Program as part of its capacity building program to the Lao People's Army. The program focused on building the capacity of the Lao People's Army to establish its own disaster response capability by transferring "Search & Rescue and First Aid" skills through practical training and exercises.
Lao PDR is experiencing increasing natural disasters such as floods and landslides. The JMOD program aims to develop the Lao People's Army disaster response capacity so that they can protect the lives and assets of the Lao people. All Lao People's Army personnel worked hard to obtain the skills and techniques provided by GSDF instructors. Through the program, the teamwork of SAR unit and Medic unit improved significantly and the Lao commanders were trained to plan, undertake and evaluate practical training.
On the occasion of the closing ceremony, the Deputy Director of General Political Department of the Ministry of National Defense conferred the "Medal of People's Army" to 4 of Japan delegation members, who participated in this year's program for the first time, in recognition of their contributions to building and advancing friendship between Japan and Lao PDR.
