The JMOD and JSDF conducted the 2nd Japan-ASEAN Invitation Program on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR), inviting participants from all ASEAN member states and the ASEAN Secretariat. The program was organized under the guiding principle for Japan-ASEAN defense cooperation known as the "Vientiane Vision" envisioning maintaining and strengthening the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific". Through seminars, a Table Top Exercise and a visit to JGSDF unit, the program aimed to strengthen disaster response capacity of the region with a focus on multinational coordination in case of large-scale disasters. The program also facilitated network building among participants, including Japanese officers.
