On October 15, Minister of Defense Koizumi Shinjiro met with General Dan Caine, United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Minister Koizumi and General Caine held a meaningful exchange of views to further strengthen the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance. With regard to the robbery-murder case that occurred in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, Minister Koizumi reiterated the Japanese government’s position, including expressing regret over this incident. They also confirmed their commitment to continue working closely together on this matter.
