On Friday, October 9, Vice Minister Ando held Japan-ROK Vice-Ministerial Defense Talks with Mr. Lee Doo-hee, Vice Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea.
Mr. Ando welcomed Vice Minister Lee's visit to Japan, the first visit to Japan by the ROK Vice Minister of National Defense in 16 years. They exchanged views on the regional security environment as well as Japan-ROK and Japan-U.S.-ROK defense cooperation.
The two sides concurred on promoting Japan-ROK defense cooperation at various levels, and on continuing close coordination among Japan, the United States, and the ROK.
