Courtesy call on Minister of Defense Koizumi by U.S. Senator David McCormick

On October 6th, Minister of Defense Koizumi Shinjiro received a courtesy call from U.S. Senator David McCormick. Minister Koizumi welcomed Senator McCormick and expressed his intention to take the Japan-U.S. relationship to new heights and further strengthen the greatest alliance in the world. In addition, he conveyed that, with regard to the robbery-murder case that occurred in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, the Government of Japan strongly protests this incident and is strongly urging the U.S. side to provide full cooperation with the investigation, enforce strict discipline among U.S. military personnel, take thorough measures to prevent the recurrence of incidents and accidents, and ensure appropriate consideration is given to the bereaved family of the victim.
