On Wednesday, October 28, Defense Minister Koiuzumi, held a meeting with KANG Shin-chul, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines where he is to attend the 13th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).
Minister Koizumi congratulated Minister KANG on his appointment and expressed his intention to work closely with Minister KANG based on a strong relationship of mutual trust.
The two Ministers exchanged views on the regional security situation, including North Korea’s nuclear and missile development, and reaffirmed that Japan and the ROK, as well as Japan, the United States, and the ROK, will continue to cooperate closely.
The two Ministers also exchanged views on Japan-ROK defense cooperation and welcomed the close communication at high levels between the defense authorities of Japan and the ROK since the beginning of this year. They agreed to maintain this momentum and further advance Japan-ROK defense cooperation.
