On September 30, commencing at 15:30 for approximately 40 minutes, Minister Koizumi held a Defense Ministerial Meeting in Tokyo with H.E. Mr. Damba Batlut, Minister of Defence of Mongolia.
- At the outset, Minister Koizumi welcomed the visit to Japan by Minister Batlut, noting that Mongolia is a strategically important partner located between Russia and China and with which Japan shares values and principles such as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. He also emphasized that the Ministry of Defense and the Japan Self-Defense Forces attach great importance to defense cooperation and exchanges with Mongolia.
- The two Ministers exchanged views on Japan-Mongolia defense cooperation and exchanges and concurred on continuing to work closely together and advancing defense cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.
- The two Ministers confirmed that they would work closely together to maintain and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
