On 18 August 2026, Minister of Defense Koizumi visited the Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) of the Australian Defence Force, located on the near Canberra. During the visit, he received a briefing from Chief of Joint Operations Vice Admiral Justin Jones and exchanged views.
2. Call on Prime Minister Albanese

3. Japan-Australia Defence Ministers' Meeting
On the same day, Minister of Defense Koizumi held a Japan-Australia Defence Ministers' Meeting with the Hon. Richard Marles MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence of Australia, at the Australian Parliament House. The two Ministers confirmed their intention to further strengthen Japan-Australia defence cooperation and issued a Joint Statement following the meeting.

4. Visit to the Canberra Nara Peace Park
On the same day, Minister of Defense Koizumi visited the Canberra Nara Peace Park. At the memorial monument established in the park in remembrance of the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, he laid flowers and observed a moment of silence.

5. Visit to the Australian War Memorial and Wreath-Laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
On the same day, Minister of Defense Koizumi visited the Australian War Memorial and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
