On July 13 2026, Vice Minister of Defense for International Affairs Mr. Kano held the 8th Japan-India Defense Policy Dialogue with Defence Secretary Mr.Rajesh Kumar Singh. The summary is as follows.

  1. Vice Minister Kano and Defence Secretary Singh exchanged views on regional affairs discussed a wide range of issues, including high-level exchanges such as the Japan-India “2+2” Meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation and coordination, and Defense Equipment and Technology Cooperation. They concurred on further strengthening coordination between defense authorities of both countries in order to swiftly implement the outcomes agreed upon by their leaders at the Japan-India Summit Meeting on July 2.
  2. Vice Minister Kano referred to Prime Minister Modi’s welcome at the recent Japan-India Summit Meeting, of Japan’s revision of its defense equipment transfer framework in April this year. He expressed his expectation that the transfer of the UNICORN system would be steadily advanced and successfully implemented, and that discussions would continue toward identifying further areas of cooperation in the field of Defense Equipment and Technology Cooperation.
