On May 28, State Minister of Defense Miyazaki received a farewell courtesy call from Lieutenant General Roger B. Turner, Commanding General, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and Okinawa Area Coordinator of U.S. Forces. State Minister Miyazaki expressed his appreciation for General Turner’s efforts to steadily advance Japan-U.S. cooperation while placing importance on relations with local communities. He also congratulated him on his upcoming appointment as Commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, and expressed his expectation for his further contributions to further strengthening the Japan-U.S. Alliance and realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
