This evening, I will attend the virtual Defense Ministers’ meeting on a multinational mission in the Strait of Hormuz co-hosted by the UK and France. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital chokepoint for global maritime logistics and constitutes an international public good. It is essential that stability in the Strait be restored as soon as possible and that the free and safe navigation of vessels of all countries be ensured. During tonight’s meeting, I intend to have a discussion with relevant countries, including the UK and France, on ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
