On May 14, the 2nd Japan-EU Security and Defence Dialogue was held in Tokyo, Japan.

  1. At the dialogue, which was held following the one in June last year, both Japan and the EU held discussions to materialize security and defense cooperation in fields such as maritime security, cyber, disinformation, Women, Peace and Security (WPS), space, disarmament, and non-proliferation under “Japan-EU Security and Defence Partnership.” Both sides concurred to further deepening strategic cooperation between Japan and the EU.
  2. In this dialogue, Mr. Koji Yoshino, Director-General for International Affairs (Europe and NATO) participated as a representative of the Ministry of Defense. Also, Mr. Katsuro Kitagawa, Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Seiichiro Taguchi, Deputy Director-General and Ambassador, European Affairs Bureau participated as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EU side was represented by Dr. Benedikta Von Seherr-Thoss, Managing Director for Directorate for Peace, Security and Defence, European External Action Service.
