Homecoming and departure Ceremony for International Peace Cooperation Personnel to South Sudan (UNMISS)

PVM Wakabayashi attended the Homecoming and Departure Ceremony hosted by the Cabinet Office, for Japan International Peace Cooperation personnel assigned to the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS). He encouraged the 16th and 17th HQ staff officers (Logistics Staff Officers and Air Operations Staff Officers), on March 11.

Logistics staff officers are responsible for overseeing the supply and transportation of materiel and equipment required for the operations of contingents from contributing countries, while air operations staff officers are tasked with duties such as developing aircraft flight plans, including those for emergency airlift operations. Both play an indispensable role in ensuring the smooth functioning of UNMISS. PVM Wakabayashi commended the returning personnel for their outstanding achievements, encouraged those departing, and expressed his expectations for the future success of all members.

MOD/JSDF will continue to contribute to peace and stability in Africa and the international community as a whole through the ongoing dispatch of SDF personnel.
