On February 19, 2026, commencing at 4 : 30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Minister Koizumi held a meeting with H.E. Ms. GUNNARSDÓTTIR, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, who is also responsible for National Defense.
- At the meeting, both Ministers exchanged views on Japan-Iceland defense cooperation and exchanges, and regional affairs. They welcomed the development of cooperation through the ‘Demining Coalition’ which is aimed at supporting for Ukraine, and confirmed to further promote Japan-Iceland defense cooperation and exchanges including cooperation through NATO.
- Both sides shared the view to continue to cooperate in maintaining a rules-based international order under the recognition that security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable.
