On February 14, 2026, commencing at 14 : 25 p.m. local time for approximately 30 minutes, Minister Koizumi, who was visiting Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a meeting with H.E. Ms. Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission(HRVP).
- At the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on Japan-EU defense cooperation and exchanges as well as on increasingly severer security environment. Both sides confirmed that they would further promote Japan-EU defense cooperation and exchanges, including maritime security, based on the “Japan-EU Security and Defence Partnership.”
- Both sides shared the view to further deepen Japan-EU defense cooperation and exchanges, and to closely cooperate in maintaining a rules-based international order and advancing the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
