On February 14, 2026, commencing at 10:30 a.m. (local time) for approximately 20 minutes, Minister of Defense Koizumi, who was visiting Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a Japan–Germany defense ministers’ meeting with H.E. Boris Pistorius, Federal Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany.
- The two ministers welcomed the close defense cooperation and exchanges being conducted between Japan and Germany across all services—land, maritime, and air— including the JASDF F-15 etc. visiting Germany in September 2025 and the German naval ships visiting Japan the year before, sharing the shared recognition that security in the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific is inseparable.
- The two ministers confirmed that they will continue to work closely together to further deepen the Japan–Germany defense cooperation and exchanges including in the Japan-NATO framework and to create a security environment that does not tolerate unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force.
