On February 14, 2026, commencing at 10:30 a.m. (local time) for approximately 20 minutes, Minister of Defense Koizumi, who was visiting Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a Japan–Germany defense ministers’ meeting with H.E. Boris Pistorius, Federal Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany.

  1. The two ministers welcomed the close defense cooperation and exchanges being conducted between Japan and Germany across all services—land, maritime, and air— including the JASDF F-15 etc. visiting Germany in September 2025 and the German naval ships visiting Japan the year before, sharing the shared recognition that security in the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific is inseparable.
  2. The two ministers confirmed that they will continue to work closely together to further deepen the Japan–Germany defense cooperation and exchanges including in the Japan-NATO framework and to create a security environment that does not tolerate unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force.
