On February 13, commencing at 4:00 p.m. (local time) for approximately 20 minutes, Minister of Defense Koizumi, who was visiting Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a Japan–Italy Defense Ministerial Meeting with H.E. Mr. Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defence of the Italian Republic.
- The two ministers welcomed the opportunity to hold their first face-to-face meeting and confirmed that they would continue to work together toward the success of the strategically important project of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
- The two ministers also exchanged views on regional security issues and confirmed that they would work closely together, based on the view that security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable.
