On December 12th, Defense Minister Koizumi held a telephone conference with U.S. Secretary of War Hegseth. The Ministers exchanged candid views on increasingly severe security situation in the Indo-Pacific region, including the radar incident against SDF aircraft by Chinese military aircraft on Dec 6. The Ministers expressed serious concern over any actions to increase regional tensions, as China’s actions are not conducive to regional peace and stability. The Ministers reaffirmed to continue further strengthening the Alliance capabilities to deter and respond, with a sense of urgency and speed.
