JMOD/JASDF invited 6 personnel involved in Aviation Meteorology from the Vietnam Air Defence - Air Force to Japan and conducted the 1st Japan-Vietnam capacity building project on Aviation Meteorology.
The objective of this project is to enhance the effectiveness of meteorological support for the Vietnam Air Defence – Air Force by providing knowledge and skills related to aviation meteorology as practiced by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, and by supporting improvements to existing procedures. Through these efforts, the project aims to contribute to the stable flight operations of the Vietnam Air Defence – Air Force.
The invitees visited Fuchu Air Base (Aviation Weather Group and Central Weather Squadron) and Iruma Air Base (Iruma Weather Squadron), where they received training on meteorological forecasting, meteorological observation operations, and various observation equipment conducted by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
Additionally, the Vietnam Air Defence - Air Force provided a briefing on their own aviation meteorological operations, organizational structure and etc. Members of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force offered advice for improvement, and both sides engaged in discussions to deepen mutual understanding and share knowledge.
JMOD/JSDF will continue to contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Vietnam.
