On November 10, Defense Minister Koizumi paid a courtesy call on His Majesty King Abdullah II, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who is visiting Japan for the Japan-Jordan summit meeting. The summary is as follows:
- At the outset, Minister Koizumi expressed his gratitude for Jordan’s support in transporting Japanese nationals overseas and others in the region by the Self-Defense Forces, and conveyed his respect for Jordan’s significant role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
- His Majesty King Abdullah II welcomed the progress in Japan-Jordan defense cooperation and exchanges, and stated that Jordan would remain fully committed to this cooperation.
- Minister Koizumi and His Majesty King Abdullah II agreed to further promote bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges based on the Memorandum on Defense Cooperation and Exchanges signed in 2016 in the presence of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
