- In December 2023, Ministry of Defense (MOD) released that MOD/Self-Defense Forces(SDF) joined the ‘Demining Coalition’ and the ‘IT Coalition’ supporting for Ukraine, in which some willing nations such as European countries participated, and would support Ukraine in the areas of demining and IT through the activities in these Coalitions.
- MOD announces that we decided to provide educational support for Ukraine for the purpose of enhancing capability of Armed Forces of Ukraine as a result of coordination with the ‘Demining Coalition’ participating countries.
- To be specific, Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) will dispatch two instructors to educational training course on humanitarian demining to Ukrainian soldiers, which will be taken place in the Republic of Lithuania and be conducted together with Lithuania and Nordic countries including Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland from November 3 to December 5.
- This educational support has a great significance as it will contribute to promote humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian people who are facing difficulties by helping Armed Forces of Ukraine to enhance its demining capability. In addition, this effort will lead to strengthening relationship between Japan and Lithuania, and Nordic countries, that join the ‘Demining Coalition.’
- Additionally, MOD/SDF will held a workshop to share our cybersecurity and others knowledge in the ‘IT Coalition’ in the near future.
- MOD/SDF will support Ukraine to the fullest extent possible in close cooperation with the international community.
