1. Japan-UK Defense Ministerial Meeting
On August 28, Minister Nakatani held a Japan-UK defense ministerial meeting with UK Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon John Healey MP, who was visiting Japan, and issued the first joint statement by defense authorities. Minister Nakatani welcomed the visit of UK Carrier Strike Group 25 (CSG25) to Japan, and both Ministers concurred to further deepen bilateral cooperation as each other’s closest security partners in Asia and Europe.

2. Welcome Ceremony of HMS Prince of Wales
On the same day, Minister Nakatani, together with Secretary Healey, attended the welcome ceremony of HMS Prince of Wales at the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, as well as the reception on board the ship.
3. Keynote Speech at the Pacific Future Forum
On August 29, Minister Nakatani participated in the Pacific Future Forum (PFF) held on board the HMS Prince of Wales, and delivered a keynote speech. PFF is an event hosted by a UK private organization as a forum for the UK to strengthen defense, security, technology and trade relations with like-minded countries.
