From September 22 to December 19, 2025, JMOD and JGSDF invited two members of the PNGDF Military Band to Japan and implemented a Japan - Papua New Guinea Capacity Building Project on Military Band Training.
This project is held with the aim of enabling the PNGDF Military Band to independently and sustainably maintain and develop its unit in the future.
In the second year of this project, the trainees were invited to Camp Asaka (JGSDF Central Band) and Musashino Academia Musicae, where they acquired the skills and knowledge necessary for arranging music to foster music arrangers for PNGDF Military Band. They also participated in concert training conducted by the Central Band and Musashino Academia Musicae, received practical instrument instruction, and thereby enhanced their overall capabilities as military band members.
JMOD continues to contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Papua New Guinea.
