DM Nakatani held a meeting with Acting Minister of Defense Hassan in Djibouti on Aug 18, agreeing to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation & exchanges. He also paid a courtesy call on President Guelleh. Japan continues to enhance defense cooperation with Djibouti.
DM Nakatani also met with Djiboutian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf as well as had a discussion with National Assembly Speaker Dileita, who visited Japan in June this year.
DM Nakatani also visited the JSDF facility in Djibouti, where he inspected the deployed anti-piracy air unit and support unit. He encouraged the personnel, who are carrying out their duties with high morale under harsh conditions.
