Since 2014, Japan has supported the development of Mongolian Army Engineers for UN peacekeeping operations (PKO). The project has progressed through multiple phases: Phase 1 focused on basic road construction, Phase 2 introduced advanced techniques including drainage systems and instructor training, and Phase 3 aimed at enabling independent road construction.

In 2025, Phase 4 began with the goal of building self-sufficient capabilities for camp infrastructure development. As part of this phase, JMOD and JSDF conducted training on civil engineering essential for camp construction with Mongolian Army engineers at the Five Hills Training Area in Mongolia.

Japan and Mongolia continue to strengthen their partnership by sharing knowledge and experience to promote international cooperation.
