Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Kaneko welcomed Brigadier General James Dooghan, Commander, U.S. Army Japan on July 10th, and expressed his congratulations on his assumption of command. They reaffirmed the U.S. Army Japan plays an extremely important role in ensuring peace and stability in Japan and the region. In addition, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Kaneko conveyed his expectation that the new commander will establish a close relationship with Japan Ground Self-Defense Force as well as contribute to maintaining a good relationship with the local communities.
