Since April 9, the JMOD/JSDF have dispatched Japanese language instructors to the Defense Language Education and Training Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense as part of a capacity-building initiative.
Fifteen participants who had studied Japanese for about three months visited Japan from July 2 to 11. They attended classes at a private language school in Tokyo, with nine in the beginner class, four in the advanced class, and two participants, who were instructors at the Center, studied Japanese teaching methods as part of their training.
On July 6, all participants took the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and after that they experienced traditional Japanese culture, such as calligraphy and tea ceremony.
Through this program, Japan continues to strengthen defense cooperation with Indonesia.
