UK Carrier Strike Group’s visit to Japan

  1. The UK will deploy its Carrier Strike Group (CSG) including HMS Prince of Wales to the Indo-Pacific region including Japan, and Japan will welcome the port calls by the CSG from August to September this year. The deployment of the CSG to Japan will be the second time following the port call by HMS Queen Elizabeth and the escort vessels in September 2021.
  2. As the security environment surrounding Japan has become increasingly severe and uncertain, the Government of Japan welcomes the visit from the perspective of showing the UK’s commitment to contributing to the regional peace and stability and further strengthening Japan’s security as well as the Japan-UK security and defense cooperation.
  3. The CSG25’s visit to Japan will consist of the UK aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, UK destroyer HMS Dauntless and the Norwegian frigate HNoMS Roald Amundsen. During their visit to Japan, HMS Prince of Wales would berth at the U.S. Naval Facility in Yokosuka and the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal (TICT). HMS Dauntless would berth at JMSDF Yokosuka Naval Base, and HNoMS Roald Amundsen at JMSDF Yokosuka Naval Base and TICT.
