From 2ー24 June, the JMOD/JMSDF conducted a capacity building project in underwater unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance with the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) off the coast of Iwo-To, Tokyo.

Through the activities, the JMSDF personnel conveyed specialized knowledge on underwater UXO clearance in open water. They also provided demonstrations on methods for detonating fuses, as well as installing explosives for bomb disposal.
