On April 8th, 2025, Mr. Mark Rutte, Secretary General of NATO visited JMSDF Yokosuka Base and toured JS Mogami docked at the base. He also toured Mistubishi Electric Corporation Kamakura Works and received a briefing from the company.
Mr. Rutte’s visit to JS Mogami and Kamakura Works promoted NATO’s understanding of our national defense and defense industry and contributed to the development of Japan-NATO defense cooperation and exchanges. Japan Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces will continue to work closely with NATO based on the recognition that security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable.
