The Japan-Estonia Defense Ministers Meeting

On January 29, 2025, commencing at 18:30 for approximately 45 minutes, Minister NAKATANI held a Defense Ministerial Meeting with Minister of Defence of the Republic of Estonia, H.E. Mr. Hanno Pevkur.

  1. At the outset, Minister Nakatani welcomed Minister Pevkur’s visit to Japan. Minister Pevkur conveyed his appreciation to Minister Nakatani for hosting the visit.
  2. Minister Nakatani stated securities of the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific regions are inseparable and underscored the importance of our strengthening the involvement to each region respectively.
  3. The meeting also included a discussion on bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges. The two ministers shared the view to further promote defense cooperation and exchanges including the recent increase in high-level and working level exchanges, cyber cooperation, defense equipment and technology cooperation, and cooperation through NATO.
  4. The two ministers concurred to continue to work closely together towards further deepening Japan-Estonia cooperation.
