JMOD/JSDF invited six members from the Mongolian Armed Forces Air Force to Japan for a capacity building project on Air Traffic Control. Participants visited Komaki Air Base, where they received briefings on a series of tasks related to air traffic control and the respective divisions and equipment involved. At the 5th Technical School, participants received comprehensive preparation for training air traffic controllers, and gained practical experience by participating in lectures.

This project is the first of its kind and aims to enhance the air traffic control capabilities of the Mongolian Armed Forces Air Force through exposure to processes, air traffic control operations, and skills utilized by the Japan Air Self Defense Force. The project seeks to contribute to ensuring “stability and safety in the skies” in Mongolia and the surrounding region, and will be implemented in a phased manner going forward. JMOD/JSDF continue to strengthen relations between Japan and Mongolia.
