- On December 11, 2024, the U.S. Department of Defense’s Under Secretary for Acquisition and Sustainment, Dr. William LaPlante and Japan’s Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Agency Commissioner, Mr. Takeshi ISHIKAWA held the 3rd Defense Industrial Cooperation, Acquisition, and Sustainment (DICAS) Forum.
- Both leaders were briefed and approved action plans submitted by Missile Co-production Working Group on AIM-120 (AMRAAM) and PAC-3 (MSE). The leaders confirmed that they would further expedite bilateral discussion on missile co-production next year while working closely with their respective industry counterparts.,
- The approved AIM-120 (AMRAAM) action plans for missile co-production included but was not limited to, procedures and work scope of the feasibility study for this important capability.
- The approved action plan for co-production of PAC-3 MSE identified steps necessary to increasing bilateral cooperation with the ultimate goal of realizing stable production of PAC-3 MSE as global demand increases.
- Both leaders again confirmed that they would encourage continued discussion within the Aircraft Repair Working Group, Supply Chain Resilience Working Group, and Ship Repair Working Group to identify of specific areas of cooperation.
- Both Dr. LaPlante and Commissioner ISHIKAWA concurred that the next DICAS meeting will be held no later than June, 2025.
