Since 2013, the MOD/SDF have been implementing a Capacity Building project with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) in the field of PKO (Civil Engineering). To date, more than 250 personnel have been trained.

This year, in order to enable the RCAF to continuously dispatch engineering troops to UN PKO missions, Japanese instructors of hydraulic excavator have provided academic and practical training to 30 operators of the RCAF. At this time, 10 trainees with excellent grades and performance were trained as future instructors.

In addition, in this project, the MOD Gender Advisor and GSDF officer in charge of WPS held a WPS seminar to introduce the efforts of the MOD/SDF and deepen participants' understanding of the importance of women's participation and gender perspectives in PKO.

Through this project, we will continue to promote defense cooperation and exchanges between Japan and Cambodia, and cooperate not only for the peace and stability of the region, but also for improving the global security environment.
