Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense Miyake received a courtesy call from Admiral Koehler, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet on October 21. Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense Miyake highlighted that the security environment in the region has never been more severe and the role of the Japan-U.S. Alliance has never been more important. He also conveyed his expectation that Admiral Koehler continues to build a deep trusting relationship with Admiral Saito, Chief of Staff, MSDF and strengthen cooperation between MSDF and U.S. Navy.
