Defense Minister Nakatani received a courtesy call from Lieutenant General Turner, Commanding General, III Marine Expeditionary Force (ⅢMEF) and Okinawa Area Coordinator of the U.S. Forces, Japan on October 10. Minister Nakatani confirmed that the security environment in the region is getting severe rapidly and the role of the Japan-U.S. Alliance has never been more important. He also conveyed his expectation that Lieutenant General Turner continues to build a deep trust with the SDF and local communities and strengthen deterrence and response capabilities of the Alliance.
