Military Band Training

in Japanese

Program Outline
Period 17 September – 18 December 2024
Location Camp ASAKA, JGSDF and MUSASHINO Academia Musicae
Recipient 2 trainees, Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) Military Band

From 17th September to 18th December, the MOD/SDF invited two musicians from the PNGDF Military Band to provide education and guidance on the basic knowledge and techniques required for arrangers at JGSDF Central Band and the contracted MUSASHINO Academia Musicae, thereby providing them with basic arrangement skills that can be adjusted to simple pop arrangements. In addition, the comprehensive skills as Military Band members have also been enhanced through training in concerts and other events organized by JGSDF Central Band and MUSASHINO Academia Musicae, as well as hands-on instrumental music practical training.

The purpose of this program is to enable the PNGDF Military Band to maintain and develop its units independently in the future. Through these initiatives, Japan will further strengthen cooperation with the Papua New Guinea.
