Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Matsumoto received a courtesy call from Rear Admiral Ian Johnson, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Japan

Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Matsumoto welcomed Rear Admiral Ian Johnson, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Japan and expressed his congratulations on his assumption of command on August 5. They reaffirmed the U.S. Navy in Japan plays an extremely important role in ensuring peace and stability in Japan and the region. In addition, PVM Matsumoto conveyed his expectation that the new commander will establish a close relationship with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force as well as contribute to maintaining a good relationship with the local communities.
