Defense Minister Kihara received a courtesy call from the delegation of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, led by Chairman John Moolenaar, and welcomed their visit to Japan on August 27. They had a frank discussion on regional affairs and Japan-U.S. defense cooperation. Also, Defense Minister Kihara stated obtaining understanding and cooperation from the U.S. Congress is essential to further strengthen the alliance, and admired Chairman’s leadership at the Congress.
