Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee (“2+2”)

Defense Minister Kihara held Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee (“2+2”) with Foreign Minister Kamikawa, Secretary of Defense Austin and Secretary of State Blinken in Tokyo on July 28. They deepened discussions on the strengthening of the deterrence and response capabilities of the Alliance as well as the direction of security and defense cooperation in the region, and confirmed to enhance concrete collaboration and cooperation, in order to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
