During 4 – 8 March, the JMOD/JSDF hosted 12 personnel from the Philippine Army HQ and the 525th Combat Engineering Battalion in Japan for a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR) cooperation project visit.
The delegation visited JMOD, and the JGSDF Western Army 8th Division, where they received briefings on the JMOD/JSDF disaster relief operations as well as technical training and advice on life-saving equipment.
Additionally, the participants visited the Miyazaki Prefectural Government Office and learned about the local government office's role in disaster response and HA/DR cooperation between JSDF and local governments.
Furthermore, in recognition of International Women’s Day on the 8 March, both parties introduced their latest activities and initiatives on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in the Ministry of Defense. The exchange of thoughts and opinions allowed participants to deepen their collective understanding on WPS initiatives.
The JMOD/JSDF will actively continue Japan-Philippines defense cooperation and exchanges, further strengthening the relationship between our two countries.
