On February 28, Defense Minister Kihara received a courtesy call from the U.S. Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, who is the head of the Department of the Navy. They confirmed that JMSDF and U.S. Navy will continue to closely work together to further enhance Alliance capabilities to deter and respond, and to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, amid the current severe security environment.
